Foot Care & Balance Checklist

A simple, general daily routine for foot care and balance. This is general information, not medical advice — always follow your physician's guidance.

Your daily checklist

Six habits that support foot health and balance

These are everyday habits, not a treatment plan. If you have noticed numbness, tingling, burning, or balance changes, start with a conversation with your physician and consider a Discovery Visit with Dr. Scott Kirchner, D.C.

Look at your feet every day

Check for cuts, blisters, redness, or swelling. A small mirror on the floor helps you see the bottom of your feet.

Test bath water before stepping in

Check the water with your elbow or a thermometer so it is not too hot before you step in.

Wear well-fitting shoes and socks

Choose shoes that fit well and protect your feet, with socks that don't bunch or bind.

Keep floors clear and hallways lit at night

Remove trip hazards like cords or clutter, and use a nightlight in hallways you walk at night.

Stand up slowly

Rise slowly from sitting or lying down to give your body a moment to adjust and help your balance.

Tell your physician right away about new wounds or sudden changes

New wounds, or sudden changes in sensation or balance, are reasons to call your physician promptly.

A note: This checklist is general information, not a diagnosis or a treatment plan. Please follow your physician's advice. If anything changes suddenly, contact your physician right away.
